Declarations and relinquishments, 1821-1829.

Contains declarations for further credit and relinquishments of particular tracts of land to pay for other tracts. Each declaration includes declaration number, purchaser's name, purchaser's residence, date of purchase, number of original certificate surrendered, date of original certificate, quarter section, section, township, range, and date of declaration. Relinquishments include number, purchaser's name, purchaser's residence, date of purchase, certificate number, quarter section, section, township, and range for relinquished land. Also includes information about tract of land to which relinquished land was credited.

An act of Congress dated May 10, 1800, established federal land offices in Steubenville, Cincinnati, Chillicothe, and Marietta to facilitate the sale of land in the Northwest Territory.
